EHR Integration Layer for a Care Coordination Platform
A care coordination platform needed reliable, standards-based access to patient records across multiple EHR systems.
The Challenge
The client's product needed patient, scheduling, and medication data from several different EHR systems used by their partner clinics, each with different API quality and reliability.
The Solution
We built a dedicated integration layer using FHIR where available and direct API integrations elsewhere, with monitoring and error handling so upstream data issues surface immediately instead of silently corrupting downstream workflows.
Architecture
The application talks only to our integration layer, never directly to an EHR. The integration layer normalizes data from each source into one consistent internal model, with per-source error handling and monitoring.
Features
- FHIR-based data sync
- Multi-EHR support behind one interface
- Real-time integration monitoring
- Error handling and alerting
- Extensible to new EHR connections
Technology
Security
All clinical data encrypted in transit and at rest; strict access controls on the integration layer; full audit trail of every data sync.
